VALTELLINA ROCK Pareti
While Versante Sud has already published two guide books concerning the bouldering areas and crags of Valtellina, a guide book dedicated to multipitch routes – besides the most famous area of Val Masino – had not been published yet.
This volume includes all those sport and trad routes in the area of Valtellina that, until now, were confined to the descriptions of the fisrt establishers and to few other guide books, which are now hard to find. VALTELLINA ROCK Pareti includes all the routes that can be climbed in one day, both sport and trad ones, leaving out mountaineering itineraries and those requiring a night stay in huts or bivouacs. Some of the routes can be climbed all year round, even though only a small part of them is suitable for the winter season.
Federico Bagarin was born in Milan in 1993, he started climbing in Val Masino at the age of 15, giving up swimming for this new passion. Starting out as an autodidact, followed by his father who started climbing in its turn, he climbs at the crags and on the multipitch routes around the city of Sondrio, where he moved at a young age, cultivating his passion over the years. At present, he has climbed several sport routes up to 8a and harder and, being a FASI (CONI) instructor, he teaches and trains climbers in indoor climbing gyms in Milan and Bergamo.
Alessandro Codecà was born in 2005, he lives in Milan and studies multimedia art at the secondary school. He has been climbing for 2 years, mainly at the crag, the place which inspires him the most to improve as a climber on any ground: outdoor and indoor climbing, as well as youth and senior competitions. Thanks to Federico Bagarin, his trainer, he discovered the world of multipitch climbing. Together they explored all valleys of Valtellina, where, for many years, he has been spending all of his free time.
