The massif of Argentera with the Corno Stella is one of the most interesting massifs of the Southern Alps. The contents and graphics of this second edition have been completely revised and updated. In addition to the “Corno”, this guidebook includes the Catena delle Guide, the Serra dell’Argentera with its spurs, the Catena della Madre di Dio and some interesting high-altitude crags, not far from the Rifugio Lorenzo Bozano (CAI Ligure-Genova), the last sign of human activity in the wild and fascinating Valley of Argentera.

Almost all of the 235 itineraries included in this guidebook are characterised by excellent rock, which can satisfy all tastes: easy and demanding classic mountaineering routes, modern multi-pitch routes of all grades, single-pitch sport routes and grandes courses!

Among the authors’ objectives there’s the desire to promote all the aspects of an Alpine area that is in no way inferior to the most renowned Alpine destinations in Italy and abroad.

Gianluca Bergese is from Saluzzo, he is a passionate mountaineer and climber, a technician of the alpine rescue and a freelance surveyor, dealing with all the aspects of high-altitude lands. He has established several new routes in the Maritime Alps, in addition to a remarkable rebolting activity, of both crags and mountain walls. He is co-author of several monographic publications, articles on the main specialist magazines and other five climbing guidebooks, all concerning the mountains around Cuneo.

Gianfranco Ghibaudo was born in Cuneo in 1966, he is an artisan, mountaineer and climber and an amateur photographer. He has repeated many rock and ice routes, established new itineraries and rebolted other ones, in the lower valley and at a higher altitude. Over the last years he focused mainly on the Maritime Alps, with the desire to promote the mountaineering activity in the area of Cuneo, together with his friend Gianluca. This last guidebook – his fifth – confirms his great passion for these mountains.
