This guidebook presents a selection of walksin the valleys of Sesia and Toce. Each of these proposals will allow the hiker to cherish magnificent scenarios and views. The walks unwind between woods and pastures, moraines and ridges, mountain pastures and huts, leading to the ancient Walser settlements, were woods and stones recount the history of this culture. Both Valsesia and Ossola feature several side valleys, where giants such as Monte Rosa and Monte Leone stand out against clear skies and pristine lakes, encompassing both natural parks with well-trodden trails and the wilderness of the most secluded areas. The author, Cesare Re, a mountain photographer and keen walker, has chosen several of the most popular destinations, such as Valle Antrona, Devero – Veglia, Val Grande, Val Vigezzo, Valle Anzasca, Valle Antigorio, Valle Formazza… each of them features a dense network of footpaths, which were the ancient communication routes, restored and marked in the last decade, for all the hikers to enjoy this extraordinary stretch of the Alps.
