This guidebook has been conceived through a ten-years career that brought the Author exploring the area commonly known as “Quattro Province” (four districts), where he lives and he started his activity as a MTB guide.
Through the past centuries, since the eve of the Roman Empire, the area has been crossed by merchants, armies, pilgrims, wanderers… who travelled along the Via Postumia, built by the Romans, the Via Francigena and Via degli Abati, dating back to Middle Age, and then the Via del Sale (Salt Road), established during the Renaissance.
The area of the Quattro Province (Alessandria, Pavia, Piacenza and Genoa) is an homogenous land, stretching from the Apennine range to the sea.
The Author has carefully selected circular routes, varying in lenght and overall difficulty, including two astonishing traverses: the Salt Road, and the Four District Ring, featuring the most beautiful traits of this wild and pristine environment; several additional information (historical and cultural traits, wine and food suggestions) enrich the guidebook.
