The previous guidebook about the southern face of Marmolada dates back to twenty years ago. Almost eighty new routes, to be added to the hundred already depicted, have been spotted and climbed. Mountaineering has not stopped, has not surrended awing the diminishing available walls, has not run out of its enthusiasm and motivation: it’s still exploring. We have felt therefore the need of a new guidebook, updated and revised, edited following the most up-to-date standards, and giving room to technical informations, high-detailed digital pictures but saying as well a few more words than the needed, because walls and rocks have many tales to tell.

Maurizio Giordani was born June 1959 in Rovereto. Since 1985 he has been a member of the C.A.A.I. (Academic section of the Italian Alpine Club), of the G.H.M. and of Mountain Wilderness. He has been a mountain guide since 1989. He has published three works on Marmolada: “Sogno di Pietra” a book about its mountaineering history, and two guide books on the South face’s climbing itineraries. He has climbed since 1979 and his experience ranges from high difficulties in sports climbing to the 8000 metres of the Himalayas. He has climbed more than one thousand ascents, often over 6th grade, to which he has added a hundred new routes, dozens of first winter and solo ascents, all extremely difficult.
His most outstanding achievements are the solo ascents of the following routes: "Pesce", "Tempi moderni" and "Supermatita.
